Sammy is very high strung; in a good way. He's not a scaredy pig or anything like that but he is a mover. He doesn't sit still for very long. Even when I hold him, he has to run and climb all over the place. Given how much he eats, that's a good thing as it keeps him at a healthy weight. I don't mind him climbing on me because I get guinea pig kisses out of it!

He's a hoot! Our little Gabriel was like that...I called him our "ADD pig." Nothing beats piggy kisses.

Got Sammy to stop eating and sit still long enough to get a good picture of him. Enjoy it because that doesn't happen often! 😁

Sammy is one high speed, low drag guinea pig. Out of all my boys, he's by far the most active. I don't think he ever sleeps! While I clean his and Dean's cages, I put them in their individual carriers. Dean is pretty relaxed and will sit patiently and watch me until I'm done. Sammy is a different story. He goes to pulling on the wire door non-stop until it's time to put him back. I always open the carrier door and put it up to the cage so they can hop in and I put fresh hay in before I do that. I have to or Sammy goes nuts. He really loves to eat and he runs it off as fast as he eats it. He never leaves the front of the cage while I'm feeding BJ and will let me know if I forget to give him some of BJ's critical care. I only give him a little and he's good with that.
It's polar opposite of Dean who is very laid back. He eats well too, but he's more systematic about it. He's learned to block Sammy from getting to his portion of the food. He will scold Sammy if he gets out of line or tries stealing his stash. It's a beautiful dynamic between them. I can barely hold Sammy because of how fast his little motor runs. I work with him regularly but he just is who he is. It helps to calm him down so I can pet him if I have treats, but it doesn't last long. He can devour a baby carrot in under a minute. He will let me pick him up pretty readily, but he's very squirmish and bites if I try holding for too long.

They sound as different as chalk and cheese! Sammy sounds like a barrel of laughs and Dean a snuggle pop. Again they are lucky to have you and sounds like you are well trained!

Sammy is really funny! You should see him when Dean has to scold him. He acts just like a little kid.

I had a pig like that, the only one in 50 years that had ADHD. It takes some effort to keep them busy. She used to get bored fast and annoyed her sister, despite all the stuff we have to keep them entertained.

Sammy and Dean have a foot long tunnel made out of a 6" PVC pipe. Sammy rolls that thing all over the place. He climbs on it to push it, nudges the end of it and even gets in it and pushes his body against the inside of it to get it to move. It never stays in one spot for very long. Dean will play with Sammy too. He doesn't just scold him. He only does that when he's trying to rest and Sammy is too hyper or when Sammy tries to get by him to steal his food. They chase each other around and they play together with their wicker ball.
