I keep noticing that Theo likes to nibble around Toby's ears. He's very gentle; it's not an aggressive thing. Toby closes his eyes while he's being...groomed?...and doesn't seem to mind. Do you guys think it's an affectionate thing, or a dominance thing?
Toby doesn't reciprocate.
I don't think I've seen this behavior before.

Ling Ling nibbles Otto's ears. He just sits there, very still and waits for her to be done. None of my other pigs do this. Sometimes, she'll look like she's sticking her nose in his ear too. I have no idea what it means. It's certainly not aggressive but it doesn't look like typical grooming either. Weirdo's.

Power grooming comes to mind (a show of dominance).

Moogle and Jackson do it to each other. It reminds me of Chimpanzee's grooming.

I have noticed this for a while now, too. Personally I have found that it seems to be a sign of affection. I have a few who will lick each others eyes and ears, but Sophia seems very caring towards my old girl Delilah and will very often gently lick her eyes and ears: It's not dominance between these two girls, Sophia is very gentle and caring overall towards Delilah. With some of the others in the large group, it may be partly dominance and would explain why pigs who usually don't care much for each other do lick each others ears quite aggressively at times!
