Has anyone found smaller step stools online that can be used as hideys? I have several that I bought years ago at 'dollar' store but haven't been able to find anything like them since. They look like these:  |

The ones I have from Petco are only good for single pigs because they only have one opening. Those would be great for my pairs. Right now they have tunnels made for 6" pipe.

Yeah, I wish I could find more of these. I used heavy-duty shears to cut one "bar" across the side for an even better opening.

I have stools similar to these. The smaller size (10 ins x 8 ins x 7 ins high) is perfect for piggies to run through or hang out under; also 4 -way openings means lots of ventilation and escape routes if needed, unlike pigloos.
I don't remember where I got mine (Target maybe? Dollar Store? ), it was many years ago, nor how much I paid for them but do recall they were inexpensive then.
Guineadad has the paper version:
I find Recycled plain brown cardboard packaging boxes work just as well. :-)

I found this on Amazon.com and ordered one to see if it makes a decent hidey:  The dimensions are supposedly 9" square by roughly 7" high. A tad pricey at $10, but I can't find anything else I really like. |

Got it today. I'll try to take a picture of it next to one of the other stools for comparison and post it this evening or tomorrow. It's really cute. The only downside is that the openings on each of the four sides are a little smaller than you would have on a regular step stool, so I don't know if a larger guinea pig would be able to squeeze through.

Here is the stool next to one of the small Tupperware step stools (a common guinea pig hidey) for comparison:  It's really cute. I'm not sure who is going to get it, yet. Probably one of our smaller guys (Albert is a tad too, er, fluffy). |

Actually, I ended up giving it to Albert and he loves it! He is able to get underneath just fine, and in fact prefers it to the larger hidey in his cage.

I took one of the little playpens apart and bent the panels into an arch. My can covers I make fit nicely on them.
I will keep my eyes open at our dollar tree stores for the stools.
