No guinea pig forum would be complete without the obligatory "What are your pigs' favorite foods?" thread. So...here it is!
In addition to green leaf lettuce, my guys all like:
Parsley (very small amount as a rare treat) Dill (ditto) Cilantro (another ditto) "Grape" tomato All of the bell peppers except green Carrot (of course! does any guinea pig not like carrot?) Zucchini Green bean
Not fond of celery.

Fresh grass is by far the favorite of all my boys. It's not available year round so I try to let them get their fill as much as possible when it is. I fill in with wheat grass during the winter.
As for other favorite foods, they all have different tastes. They do love carrots, but I don't give them regularly. Beside the lettuce and bell peppers:
Mr Bubbles and BJ like cucumber, but hate any kind of tomato. Sammy and Dean like just about anything I give them. Oreo loves tomato, but won't touch cucumber. Gilligan and Skipper also like just about anything I feed them.
I only have one picky veggie eater and it's BJ. He pretty much only eats green leaf lettuce, cucumber and carrot. He'll eat a little bit of celery once in awhile, but that's about it for veggies. He's a big time hay eater. He's sustaining his 3 and a half pounds of body weight on mostly hay. I keep lots of it available for all of my boys.

I never think to buy cucumber, but I might try it next week. The problem with cucumber is that I can't seem to keep it from going bad. Is there a trick to it?

My trick to keeping it fresh is to feed it to the guinea pigs before it goes bad. But then again, I have 7 of them, so it, along with the rest of the veggies go very quickly. Cucumber has a high water content. You can give it daily, but it should be given in smaller amounts and accompanied with other veggies with more nutrients in them. At least that's what the vet told me.
