I see that This Little Piggie Marketplace has wheatgrass seeds and growing trays. I tried growing my own once, years ago. I'll spare you the details but it wasn't pretty. I would like to try it again though. Our grocery stores don't carry the yummy, cut stuff that we used to get for our guys.
Do any of you grow your own? Any tips for me?
I used potting soil the last time, should I use something else? I think some folks use care fresh.

I have grown it in the preplanted trays from Wild Oats. However it mildewed.. Guess I over water it!

I haven't tried to grow it myself, but I have purchased flats of it in the past from the local health food store. To me, it was worth the $20 because I knew it would be a disaster if I attempted it myself. The health food store ordered it for me, and it arrived in a couple of days. The flat was pretty large, and it started out with little sprouts (or whatever you call it--ha) that grew over the course of a week. Can't remember how much or how often I had to water it, but it had some sort of special substrate to keep it from getting moldy. I got quite a few "harvests" out of it, but it still didn't seem to last all that long. I'd clip off some of it and mix with their veggies. After a certain number of clippings, the wheatgrass stopped growing and that was it. The boys all loved it.

Hmm, I'll have to do some research to find out which substrate is best. It would be nice to have some here to mix in with their veggies.
I have this image in my head: Fiona sitting in the flat of wheatgrass hyperventilating from excitement. She loves wheatgrass and goes bonkers when she smells it.
