I have just caught up on all this, what a hectic few months it has been for you! I do hope Sierra continues to do well. and that you and your vet can figure out what the cause is. Will keep my fingers crossed.

Ok, first of all, no blood.
But, since I found the KM pellets I had got bugs in them I switched to Oxbow. I have yet to see Sierra at the food dish. She went from 940 to 905 right away. Then she stabilized. Now, she has dropped to 870! YIKES!
I have been upping the veggies and hay and started critical care until the KM pellets arrive next Monday.
She is acting normal. Ate a carrot without issue so I don't think it is teeth. This only started after the pellets were switched so she has been on a pelletless diet for about 12 days.
Help...should I take her in to the vet or continue CC until her crack arrives in 2 days?

Poor baby. If it were me I'd just keep doing what you're already doing, keep an eye on her, and wait the two days.

Thanks bugsmom. I was reading some threads on GL about people going pelletless and it seems weight loss is common.

Brownie was pelletless for a couple of months because of Guinea's stones. He was perfectly fine -didn't lose any weight during that time. In fact, he gained some weight. I wouldn't worry - Sierra will definitely be fine until KM's pellets arrive.

It certainly makes a case for the dry food being the cause of weight gain in adult pigs. I too have found that the pigs refraining from the pellets lose weight. Unless of course the pigs don't tend to eat pellets in the first place!

You should have gotten the pellets by now. How is the weight?

Back up to 934! Don't know what KM puts in those things but Sierra would waste away before she ate oxbow....

Hey all! Sierra has been well for a long time. We celebrate her "unofficial" birthday on New Years!
However, she has a very tiny patch of hair missing under her eye. It is about half the siz of a pencil eraser and the skin underneath is pink and clean. I have been putting antifungal cream on it.
The rest of her is fine.
Someone (Guinness) has been barbering her recently. My husband thinks that maybe she did this. He saw her once all in Cassanova's face near his eye...
What do you think? When should I see results from the cream if it is fungal?

Well, Happy Birthday Miss Sierra! And many more, sweet girl.
Ling Ling had a little hair loss beneath her eye when she had an ulceration that caused it to drain. Keeping her eye clean and dry until the ulceration healed worked for her. Also, during this period, Otto groomed her eye area a lot more.
In my experience, fungal things usually respond pretty quickly to treatment. I'd say within a few days, I could see an improvement.

I have been treating for 3 days. No change at all either worse or better.
There is no drainage, discoloration or redness...

Now what? Sierra has small and dry poops. She is eating. However, I did switch from putting the hay on top of carefresh in a box to a hay rack because she was always laying (and peeing) in the hay and was getting dirty. Do you think she is eating less now? Her weight is down some...but then she always fluxuates.
Arrgghhh...
