Ah, yes, the things we do for the babies I'm glad things seem to be getting back to normal. No advice other than to keep feeding her what she likes and hope she puts the weight back.

I hate to bump this BUT we have blood again! I think she may be a sludge pig. I noticed more white spots on the fleece. Then they were off color. This morning, blood all over the pads. I gave her metacam and baytril. She already has more diluted blood. Peeing a lot so no stone blocking her. Of course it is Labor Day.
I could call my vet and he would meet me at the office but I don't want to bug him unless it is a real emergency. SInce she is eating and the blood has decreased I will watch her.
The exotics vet we also see mentioned IC once. Does that cause bright red blood every few months? I am stumped but I don't feel it's repro now. I think it is urinary.
Any thoughts, advice???

KM pellets, KM hay (I mix orchard, tim and bluegrass), red leaf, green leaf, red bells, cilantro carrots once in awhile.
She just peed a lot of blood again. She is otherwise eating and drinking.

I'm sorry about this Brenda. Her diet looks good. If this was my piggy I'd probably wait 'till after the holiday then get her to the vet. Has she ever been x-ray'd? Maybe the vet would be willing to x-ray while she's bleeding and hopefully the problem would show itself? Just a thought.
Hugs to Sierra and yourself.

Kumar has IC and he does have some blood every once in a while. It's usually a small amount though. Like if you saw the urine on a towel, it would be a speck of blood in the center of the urine. It sticks around for a few days, then disappears. We've run every test we can and contiune with xrays but never find anything. We keep an eye on it though to make sure he doesn't develop a stone.
I'm really sorry this is happening. I know the panic that sets in when you see blood in the cage. Poor Sierra. Hugs.

Sending my thoughts and prayers to Sierra today. Henry bleeds if he gets romaine or Cavy Cuisine pellets (so I've eliminated both from their diet), but your diet seems okay.
I'm sure she'll be fine today, since she seems to be eating, drinking and urinating without any problem, but it's good that you're taking her in for an xay tomorrow. What time?

I don't have a time. I just decided she is going on my own. We were out for 4 hours. Came home and did not find any blood. She peed in the hay but it was clear. This pig drives mommy nuts! Does Henry bleed a lot?

When he bleeds, it's typically not a lot. With our stone pigs, though, they bled all over the place. I think I'd go ahead and have a set of x-rays done, if for nothing else than peace of mind.

Did the stone pigs pee blood continually or did it come and go?
She has not had any more blood today now...

It really varied. We've been unlucky enough to have 4 pigs with stones, and one with a recurrence. It seems to me that the bleeding would come and go, and it would be fairly heavy. Usually there would also be crying and hunching with it, but when Sebastian had his second stone, we actually discovered it by accident while doing x-rays on his tumor.
I can't remember; has Sierra had x-rays done in the past couple of months?

I'm sorry you're seeing blood. I've been there too. When Guinea has a stone last time he peed blood every single time he peed. When Guinea was younger there were a few times he would pee for a few days and then it would stop. It was never a stone during those times though so hang in there.

Well, no blood this morning. I think I may actually try to get her to the exotics vet this week for an xray. It will cost me more than my friend, but I promised the rescue I would take her to one of the vets on their list.
So a stone can just sit in there and cause intermittent trouble huh?

Yeah. As it moves around the bladder and irritates it, it can cause bleeding. But this might just be I/C or sludge, so try not to worry too much until you know for sure (I know; easier said than done).
Sending you TONS of good thoughts.
