Apparently being born ready to go means they have all of their instincts. Look at the little one hiding in the grass while eating it. You might have to zoom in.

Here's a pretty good picture of Mom and babies. The little ones are a week old today. I looked at them closely and it appears that from left to right there is a little girl (Y shaped genitalia), boy (round shaped), boy (round shaped), Buttercup and boy(round shaped). Now that they've made it through the first week, I can handle them enough to take them to the vet for their well check and sexing.

They have a vet appointment for July 21st. They'll be 3 and a half weeks old. Should be safe from any accidents until then.

Thanks to Sef, I now know that Buttercup has two sons and two daughters. The two tan and white ones are the boys. They'll be getting their own cage in a week. They'll be 4 weeks old at that time. It worked out well having two of each. The girls can stay with Buttercup for good and the boys can stay paired. It will only add one cage to the mix. That's better than only one male and him having to live as a loner or 3 of them trying to be a trio of boars.

Today is the day! Poor little guys. It's time to separate them from the girls. They're not happy about it and they're scared but we can't have them impregnating their mother and sisters. I verified their gender to make sure they are boys. I also verified the other two so we have no unauthorized breeding at the guinea pig Club Med. It's time to give them names. We're going to use democracy for that. Everyone wants to give them different names, so I think that's the best way.

So now that the boys have been separated from the girls, it's time to give them names. I named one of the girls and I had my wife and two granddaughters Ella and Hope each name one of the others.
I named this little female Muffin. I think you can see why in the picture.
Hope named the other female Ruffles for her Abby fur. Her markings are very similar to her mother. She's definitely got the Abby personality
My wife named this little male Kahlua. What a great name for him.
Last, but not least is Jack. I should have known that Ella would name him after a Supernatural character. Does Kahlua and Jack go together?😁
Anyway, Kahlua and Jack are still squeaking in protest for being separated from their mother. I believe they are calling for her to rescue them. It'll take a few days, but they'll get used to it. They have each other and they are next to Wilber and Grady.

Awwww! They are so tiny and cute! Those are great names, and I have every confidence they will quickly grow into them.

Got back from signing for my property in Mansfield Missouri. The pigs did well. They're still tiny and they're the loudest of all my wheekers. They still run and hide when I approach them, but Kahlua did take a carrot out of my hand. Ruffles almost did too. The other two still won't even come out of their hideys, even to eat their veggies until after I close the door and walk away. I have every confidence that they'll come around.

I'm sure that they will, too! The little ones just take a little bit to get the hang of things.

It's been a long time since anyone has posted here. I'd sure like to keep it going. I like this page. The babies are almost 4 months old now and doing very well. I haven't had the girls outside in the lush Missouri grass yet, but Kahlua and Jack did get their first taste of the outside experience. I only kept them out for a few minutes. Jack took to it much better than Kahlua. He did some exploring and ate grass along the way around the inside of the pen. Kahlua was content to sit in the corner and nibble.
They're getting so big, but they are still small compared to the adults.
