Our two new babies are in safe custody and being prepared for forever home with sef and me!
Homer is a new born and Wilbur was abandoned in the cold.

How can anyone abandon a guinea pig, especially in the cold? Thank goodness you are there to take him in!

Well, it didn't quite work out that way. "He" turned out to be a "she," so she'll go straight to the rescue and hopefully get placed into another forever home soon. It's a wonder the poor thing didn't freeze to death! Temperatures around here earlier this week were brutal.

Too bad there isn't a way to keep her and eliminate the risk of them breeding. I wouldn't spay or neuter though. I feel that it's too risky for guinea pigs. Just wish there was a way. I know that being abandoned in the cold is a terrible thing and that girl deserves the kind of home you give to your piggies.

Update: Wilbur is a he! The rescue's volunteer was able to get a better look at him yesterday, and sure enough---definitely male. He's being transported up to the rescue sometime next week, where he'll get a vet check to make sure he's healthy. Barring anything unforeseen, we're going to forge ahead with adopting him along with one of the babies as a possible buddy for one of our current guys (Aaron).
Fingers crossed that it all works out.
